Materials Science Projects

Sol Ideas has over 15 years of experience applying materials science to photovoltaics (PV) and Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs).

Our experience in photovoltaics includes inorganic materials such as Silicon (Si), Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) and Copper Indium Diselenide (CIS), nanocrystalline TiO and more recently, organic materials such as poly(3-undecyl-2,2′-bithiophene) and cis-(SCN) Bis(2, 2′ bipyridyl-4,4′-dicarboxylate) ruthenium(II) (a.k.a. Ruthenium N3 Dye).

Our consulting and research in materials science has resulted in numerous publications. The founder and owner of Sol Ideas, Dr. Greg P. Smestad, served as an editor for the journal Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, an International Journal devoted to the promotion of photovoltaic (PV), photothermal and photochemical solar energy conversion. Authors interested in submitting manuscripts to the journal should refer to the Guide for Authors at the Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells website.
